A high quality facility which provides a base for year round development of the Arts in Birr and environs. The programme of events includes theatre, music, film, dance, comedy etc. The theatre is also involved with a number of local festivals.
Birr Theatre and Arts Centre is a purpose built Victorian theatre which dates back to 1888. It was re-energised and brought up to current day 220 seater compliance while maintaining the classic architecture of the theatre by a board volunteers and Birr Stage Guild in the late nineties. It is an excellent facility that provides a base for the year round development of the Arts in Birr and environs. There is always an extensive programme of events available and the board have become intrinsically involved in many local festivals focusing on using the arts to boost local economies all year around. Birr theatre work with many groups and agencies making the arts as inclusive as possible in the area.
