About: This year’s That Beats Banagher Festival will take place over the weekend of 14th, 15th & 16th of July & 22nd & 23rd of July with a multiplicity of Literacy, Heritage, Cultural & sporting events including a food & craft fair in the Bridge Barracks yard at the West End at 12 noon to 4:30pm. Craft workshops, children’s events, water events, children’s outdoor cinema & other surprise events with the launch of two books on Charlotte Bronte’s honeymoon in Ireland, the first, Arthur & Charlotte, by Pauline Clooney (published by Merdog) and the second, Charlotte Bronte: An Irish Odyssey by Michael O’Dowd (published by Pardus Media). Pauline & Michael recently spoke with much acclaim at the prestigious Bradford Literacy Festival the title No Net Ensnarers Me: Charlotte Brante Abroad. This event which begins at 6:30pm on Friday July 22nd will be preceeded by the premiere of a short film called The Legacy of the Bronte’s in Banagher produced by Maebh O’Regan of NCAD. It’s there 10th year of celebration that beats Banagher festival, the annual summer festival of Banagher, Co. Offaly makes a return on this July, and is full of activities for the whole family to enjoy, including the return of FLOW – our wellness area and a blacksmithing celebration! This year we are celebration our 10th Festival and the events will run over two consecutive weekends;14th, 15th & 16th of July & 22nd & 23rd of July. The Festival, now celebrating its 10th year, takes place throughout various locations in the town, with a particular focus on the water to celebrate the town’s picturesque setting on the River Shannon. Lots of water activities, workshops, classes & demonstrations will take place on the weekend of the 15th of July followed by a very special Bronte celebration which will include talks, book launches & exhibitions.
