Ability Project (Step Up Project)

This project is for:

  • 15 – 29 year olds
  • In receipt of Disability Allowance
  • Experiencing ongoing mental health difficulties and/or mild learning difficulties

An Individual Progression Plan is developed for each participant. Participants will be supported through continuous one to one sessions over the life of the project, learning to self-evaluate and identify their individual needs, barriers and interests. We aim to build personal capacity, social confidence and preparation in starting or returning to the workforce.

Group engagement is an integral part of the project. Having identified barriers and issues, group projects are developed to fit the needs of the participants.

The following Life skills will be part of this group work:

  • Basic Meal preparation and cooking
  • Budgeting
  • Personal Health and Hygiene
  • Personal Effectiveness
  • Art
  • Childcare

We support reengagement in the community and social integration, increasing the participants' capacity for personal and or vocational progression.
