Job Club (Tullamore & Birr)

Programme Description

The Job Clubs provide a service to assist jobseekers to enter re-enter employment through the provision of individual supports, a ‘drop in’ service, CV preparation and formal workshops. The Job Club service enables jobseekers to take positive steps towards their career plans and to explore and follow-up employment opportunities.

Job Clubs provide active, practical and participative supports under the guidance and supervision of a Job Club leader. The Job Club aims to expand awareness and to help jobseekers understand how the application of simple techniques can greatly enhance their jobseeking skills. Through the supports available jobseekers will be more acutely aware of their employable/marketable personal attributes.

Job Club is a free service for job seekers to help them to obtain employment in the open labour market. We offer group and individual support to a wide range of people who are ready to take up employment opportunities and need assistance.

You may be entering the world of work for the first time; you may have many years of work experience under your belt; you may be one of thousands of people that have been made redundant or lost their job in the economic downturn; you may want to change career direction, or you may simply be looking for a better job - all are reasons that prompt people to look at the labour market for job opportunities.

In the current climate, finding the right job can be a challenging, exciting or even a daunting process. Finding a job is a job in itself, and should be approached with a sense of challenge and responsibility. There are many ways jobs are advertised, and knowing where to look and what to expect is important. So if you are looking for a job, the job club will assist you by getting a fuller understanding of the process.

The Job Club has a range of resources available to you that are designed to assist you in making sound, informed decisions about your career.

Tullamore Jobs Club is a fantastic resource for all types of job hunters. They cater to everyone: school-leavers, college graduates, those looking for a career change, or to re-join the workforce. They are great with people, and really help to hone those job-seeking skills – CV’s, covering letters, interview preparation. They are extremely knowledgeable about all the resources that are available. They even do mock interviews! In my own case, I was re-joining the workforce after a long absence and I rang to ask them to give my CV the once over. They suggested that I do their two-week course and even though I was thinking ‘this is so Full Monty’ I went along. I was so wrong. I learned a huge amount on that course, and when it finished the staff provided ongoing support until I nailed the position that I had my heart set on. And all this is completely free! So, if you’re in the market for a new job (and you don’t have to be unemployed), get in touch. You have nothing to lose and I can guarantee that Tullamore Jobs Club will improve your chances of landing that dream job! Mary, Tullamore
