A.S.I.S.T. (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) is a 2-day skills based interactive workshop which trains participants to recognise and respond to a suicidal risk.   Most people thinking about suicide signal their pain - suicide intervention training provides the ability to be more alert to these signals.   It also increases confidence and skills so that immediate support, safety and further help can be provided to the person at risk.

A.S.I.S.T. workshops are held on a monthly basis in various centres throughout the four counties, i.e. Tullamore, Portlaoise, Athlone, Mullingar and Longford and are available to everyone at no cost.

Active participation is encouraged which is stimulated by audio-visuals and working with others in small groups.   A suicide first-aid model provides a framework for skills practice.
